Get an idea about your fertility
It is important to know that fertility (the ability to get pregnant) have an expiration date. Women fertility starts to decline from 30s. This declining boosts up after 37 and continues to decline till menopause. So the chances of success to get pregnant reduces over time. It is possible to conceive during this time, but in some cases it happens that after trying for years, success remained untouched. Definitely you should consult with your doctor if you are not getting result after trying for a year or more. You may go through fertility treatments or taking support of alternative methods for getting pregnant. But beside these, before and during trying to conceive you may take some small steps to increase your fertility naturally and to maximize your chances for getting pregnant. The fertility declination process cannot be stopped, but by maintaining a healthy routine and lifestyle you may lower the rate of declination and that’s way increase your chances to conceive. And these can also boost you up psychologically.
Let’s start the mission!
Look at your weight-scale
Check your weight before trying to conceive. Obesity or being underweight both can cause difficulties to your conception. Both can disrupt hormone production and changes the frequency of ovulation in women. These can also cause difficulties during pregnancy and delivery.
A fine hormonal balance regulates a fine menstrual cycle. Overweight and obese women produce a hormone called leptin at a higher level from fatty tissues. This can disrupt the hormone balance and lead to reduced fertility. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is also connected with obesity.
Check your BMI (body mass index) score. A ranking of 19 to 24 indicates a healthy weight. If your BMI is above this you should discuss with your healthcare provider.
Do regular workout
Set regular routine for exercise. Exercise benefits our bodies in many ways. Regular workouts reduce body fat levels.
Regular exercise can boost your fertility. Women who do moderate exercise regularly get pregnant quicker than women who don’t exercise regularly.
Moreover, exercise not only helps with fertility but also helps with maintaining healthy blood pressure levels, reducing significant risk factors for heart disease and diabetes.
You don’t have to get hardcore. Daily routine walk and some moderate exercise is enough for a normal weight woman. Sometimes engaging in vigorous and extreme exercise might impact your menstrual cycle.
Don’t miss to intake sufficient calories. Doing extreme exercise without sufficient calorie intake can result abnormal menstrual cycles and may affect fertility.
Give a glance to your food habits
It’s good to follow a healthy diet before you conceive. you can ensure all your nutritional needs through a balanced and healthy diet. It can also help you with boosting your fertility.
Ditch all of the junk and processed foods from your diet and go organic. Eat good fat, like oily fish, egg, nuts etc. Include B12, B6, vitamin D, vitamin E rich foods in your diet. Keep some Special fertility foods and herbs in your diet like salmon and other Fatty fishes, honey, eggs, Walnuts, Spinach, Blueberries, Broccoli, Dairy products etc. These foods are good source of calcium, omega-3 fatty acid, folic acid, iron, vitamin D.
You can take a daily multivitamin containing folic acid at least 400mg and iron 40-80mg if you feel you are not getting enough nutrient from your diet which are strongly related to fertility.
Avoid Toxic Chemicals
The evident that hormone-disrupting chemicals can lead to female infertility. Women are exposed to chemicals through food, water, air, cosmetics, plastic products, and a lot of other sources. These chemicals are called xenobiotic toxicants, estrogen mimickers, or hormone disruptors. They are linked to reproductive issues, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), changes in metabolism, changes in DNA methylation and many more that can cause women infertility.
Although it’s impossible to say no to chemicals from everyday life. But try to avoid as much as possible. Start from your home.
Deal with stress
Try your best to manage and reduce tension and anxiety. Though stress is not directly related to fertility, but still it can affect your pregnancy indirectly. Stress can increase the levels of cortisol (the so-called stress hormone), which can temporarily slow down your reproductive system. It may affect your fertility.
Although stress doesn’t impact egg quality, but stress can lead people to behavior like smoking, drinking etc. these can cause fertility problems.
Exercise can be your good friend when struggling with stress. When you exercise, your brain recognizes this as a moment of stress and release endorphins (a chemical that fight stress). So you would feel happy.
You can also try some relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation or acupuncture.
Ban Caffeine, Alcohol and Smoking
Caffeine
High caffeine intake interferes with conception, since caffeine has been linked to low fertility . It’ll be tough. Try to cut out coffee, strong tea and chocolates. If you can’t stop right now, you can stick to one to two 8-ounce cups a day and struggle slowly.
Alcohol
Alcohol has been shown to have an adverse effect on female fertility. It can cause hormone imbalances which may results disruption in the menstrual cycle and add difficulties to conceive. Moreover, extreme alcohol consumption can results in missing period or a menstrual cycle where ovulation doesn’t occur. And without ovulation, a woman cannot become pregnant.
Try to limit your alcohol consumption and best to stop it.
Smoking
You and your partner both should ditch smoking. It’s for the sake of your health, your fertility and for having a healthy baby. Almost all scientific studies show that smoking has an adverse effect on fertility. Smoking can lower the number of quality eggs.
Smoking not only affects female fertility, but also affects male fertility. smoking can lower sperm count, reduce sperm quality and increase abnormalities in sperm shape and function.
Conclusion
If you don’t have any medical issues then these suggestions can help you to boost up your fertility. But, if you don’t get any result after trying for one year or more despite of feeling healthy then you should consult with your doctor. He can find out the reasons and give you best suggestions and treatments.
